Regular swallowing reviews and updated mealtime management plan to ensure resident’s safety during mealtimes
Our Speech Pathology Service:
Mealtime Management Plan & Review
At Swallowing & Dysphagia Support, we provide ongoing swallowing management and reviews to ensure mealtime recommendations remain practical, safe, and tailored to each person’s needs.
Most clients benefit from an annual review to check swallowing safety and update strategies. For progressive conditions such as dementia or Parkinson’s disease, we recommend reviews every six months, or sooner if there are noticeable changes in health, medication, or swallowing ability.
What we do:
Observe mealtimes to identify any swallowing difficulties (dysphagia) or risks.
Provide practical strategies to make eating and drinking safer and easier.
Recommend food and drink textures tailored to the person’s needs.
Train carers, family, and support staff on safe mealtime practices.
Create clear, personalised reports with actionable steps.
Offer follow-up reviews to check progress and adjust strategies as needed.
What you receive:
A personalised swallowing assessment report with recommendations.
Guidance for carers, families, and staff on safe mealtime support.
Practical tools to help manage food textures and drink thickness.
Support to meet NDIS and aged care requirements.
Ongoing access to follow-up assessments if swallowing needs change.
Outcomes:
Safer and more enjoyable mealtimes.
Reduced risk of choking or aspiration.
Increased confidence for carers, families, and staff.
Greater independence and dignity for the person being supported.
Our IDDIS Training might benefit:
